Jay-Z's Magna Carta Will Go Platinum No Matter What, Thanks To a New RIAA Policy Change

The entire music industry will now change thanks to Jay-Z forcing the RIAA to change a policy. Since Samsung will be purchasing a million digital copies of His Magna Carta Holy Grail LP, the RIAA will count it towards platinum certification for the album. So, not only did Hov get 20 mill for his Samsung partnership, he will also get a guaranteed platinum certification. Innovation at its finest, using the classic American way.

RIAA Director Liz Kennedy stated the following about the policy change:
We think it’s time for the RIAA – and Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman – to align our digital song and album certification requirements. That’s why today we are officially updating this rule in our G&P Program requirements. Going forward, sales of albums in digital format will become eligible on the release date, while sales of albums in physical format will still become eligible for certification 30 days after the release date.
