50 Cent Wins His Lawsuit Against Wordstarhiphop

As most may know, back in 2009, 50 cent sued Wordstarhiphop for using his image on their header for a long period of time without his permission, which in turn caused him to claim that the picture misled his fans into thinking that he ran the site. Now, a federal judge granted 50 Cent a victory.

According to the ruling, “Defendants provide no authority to support the fair use of a celebrity’s image or likeness. This is not surprising, as a celebrity’s image, standing alone, only evokes that celebrity’s persona. Jackson’s image does not, by itself, describe anything about Defendants’ website.” (HR)
