NBA Finals Preview & Predictions

Written By Eric Brantley

1. The Spurs don't care who they play.
The Spurs believe they can beat anyone, and they should. After sweeping the Grizzlies, the Spurs are a dominant 12-2 in these playoffs. The last two series helped prepare them for the Heat. The Heat are at their best when they're hitting threes off of LeBron's penetration and getting into transition off of great defense and forcing turnovers. In the conference semis they faced a formidable Golden State team that was the best three point shooting team in the playoffs. After a slow start to the series, the Spurs found a way to slow down their three point onslaught to move on. In the conference championship against Memphis, they shredded arguably the best defensive team in the league for an average of 99 points a game, nearly 10 more points a game than their regular season league leading 89.3 average. Greg Popovich is the best active coach in the league and has a huge advantage in the coaching matchup against Erik Spolestra. The Spurs will be ready after 9 days off.

NBA Final Four & Finals Predictions

Written By Eric Brantley
Now that we know who the last four teams are that are fighting for a championship, let's take a look at their chances and what it will take for them win the title.

San Antonio Spurs - 10%
The Spurs have the most experience of any of the four playoff teams. Unfortunately with that experience comes age, which is the main reason I only give them a ten percent chance of winning the championship. Of the last four standing the Spurs have the worst defense, not that that's a knock on them. The Grizzlies, Heat, and Pacers have top-notch defenses. Yes the Spurs have a 1-0 lead on the Grizzlies, but the Grizz have lost the first game of each series so far and are still here. If they were to make it past the Grizzlies, which is very possible for a resilient Spurs team, they're going to be banged up and fatigued going into the finals. The only way I see the Spurs knocking off the Grizzlies is to get off to a fast start and win both of their opening home games. In the finals they will face off against either the Heat or the Pacers. Both teams will pose problems for the Spurs athletically. Lucky for the Spurs their best defender, Kawhi Leonard, will be guarding either team's best player, LeBron James and Paul George. They won't be able to blow out the Heat, and the Pacers don't get blown out very often (30-2 Knicks Game Two run in the Garden aside), meaning that they'll have to win games down the stretch. They've proven before that they can do this, which is why I gave them a chance at all, but it's not likely that they can win two more series this post season.

NBA Players & Owners Reach Deal To End Lockout

It looks like we will finally get to see some professional American basketball this season. The owners and players of the NBA have finally come to a tentative agreement for their lockout of the 2011-2012 NBA season. According to Yahoo, their will be a 66 game season, with camps and free agent signings starting on December 9th. I know I can't wait...

“I speak for everyone when we say, ‘If we work, we’re excited,” Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes said. “I thought we’d eventually come to something. The league is doing too well to dismiss the season. I thought we’d get started in January or February.” (Yahoo)
